“I owe my whole family to this man and his staff. Dr. Spirtos gave my husband and I the best options for us. He wants what is best for his patients.
– Tricia Modugno (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio)
Tricia’s story:
Tricia Modugno vividly recalls the dark period of her life that commenced 13 years ago with the miscarriage of her first baby, conceived while she and husband Nick were on their honeymoon. A second pregnancy resulted in another devastating loss. As a local hair stylist, Tricia heard customers speak of achieving successful births with the help of Dr. Spirtos. The Modugnos called Dr. Spirtos, and as Tricia says, “He got us right in.”
Initial tests revealed Tricia had a genetic blood-clotting disorder that presented no other problem except that she had blood too thick to nourish a baby. Blood-thinning medication resolved the issue. The Modugnos’ oldest child, Nick, was born in 2005. The same blood-thinning medication resulted in a second successful pregnancy, and the birth of their son Vincenzo in 2006.
An eptopic (tubal) pregnancy followed, causing Tricia to lose a Fallopian Tube. Still hoping to grow their family, the couple returned to Dr. Spirtos. This time, In Vitro Fertilization led to the birth of twins in 2009 – Anthony and Evangelina.
In 2014, the Modugnos received an unexpected phone call from Dr. Spirtos, inquiring about their plans for four remaining embryos still in a freezer at his facility. The Modugnos contemplated long and hard, ultimately deciding to attempt to transfer all four embryos to Tricia’s uterus. Two of the embryos did not survive the thawing process. Of the two that did, one resulted in a successful pregnancy.
The Modugnos are expecting their fifth child in July.
